Dr. David L. Fields
“A teacher affects eternity. Teachers can never tell where their influence stops.”
– Harry Adams
The Danville Public School Foundation is proud to sponsor the Dr. David L. Fields Excellence in Teaching Awards. These coveted awards were established in 2001.
They are named for Dr. David L. Fields, a 1953 Danville High School graduate and who retired as the Danville Superintendent of Schools after serving 40 years (1960-2000) with the District as a teacher, principal, and superintendent. He then went on to serve 10 years on the Illinois State Board of Education.
The Excellence in Teaching Awards are bestowed upon the outstanding teacher from the primary intermediate, middle school and high school levels. Teachers receiving this award represent the finest in teaching, demonstrating a continuing dedication to their profession and to their students.
Along with the formal recognition, the Foundation provides at $500 cash award to each recipient, and the District provides $500 of instructional supplies of the honoree’s choice to further enhance the educational environment in the recipient’s classroom.
